Kite Festival

I'm a little late on this post, but Ian and I went to the annual Kite Festival in our town a few weeks back. I'm always looking for age appropriate, free fun in our town- and this was pretty cool. Though Ian may have enjoyed it more if he were older, he had a great time looking at all of the crazy colorful kites flying. These pictures can't really show you how full the place was and how neat it looked to have hundreds of kites up in the air.

Here's when we first came in. Ian couldn't stop staring into the sky.

We met up with our friends Jacquelyne and Sophia from our Hens and Chicks group.
Sophia and Ian are just days apart.

What kinds of activities do you and your little one do? Any suggestions on places Ian and I should go and see?

One of those calls....

On Wednesday, while serving at my church for a huge conference we hold each year called The Uprising, I got the call from the sitter that no parent ever wants to get. It actually started with a text while I was attending a teaching session that simply read, "can you call me please." I knew that wasn't like this sitter, that she wouldn't want me to call her over something silly. So I walked out of the session and gave her a call.
To make a long story short and spare most of the details, Ian had been hurt and needed medical attention. My heart sank as I went back and forth between the what ifs and oh nos and please be oks. I prayed my whole way to the hospital that Ian would be ok AND that I could find only grace and forgiveness over the whole situation- kids get hurt and blaming doesn't help or heal anything.

One of the things I will remember most about this whole situation is when I ran to the sitter as she was getting him out of the car. Blood was dripping down one side of his face, but when he saw me he waved and smiled! That's my boy, the calmest little babe I've ever known.

It's been a few days now and his face has started to heal, he's on antibiotics, and it all seems like just a bad dream. But boy did I realize how precious life is that day. A lesson I don't want to easily forget.

Very tired tonight so I'm gonna hit the hay, but I really wanna be more consistent in my blogging. Don't want to forget any of this one amazing life I've got to live!

11 Months and Warm Weather

Can you believe the little guy turned 11 months this week?

fav foods are blueberries, pumpkin, pancakes

recently cruising

naps twice a day

two teeth but two more coming up top

will drink from sippy cup, self feed, plays drums with his spoons, likes to put things in and out of boxes and baskets, likes to point at things around the house

Look at this guy when he was tiny in his Swaddlebees Dino Diaper!! And then how he fits in it now!

Here he is playing in the bamboo planter.

And here he is sitting at the bottom of the slide.
Can you tell we are enjoying this nice weather?

I adore watching Ian and Patton interact. Ian thought it was cool to let Patton lick the spoon. Yum- chicken salad!

Can't believe we are planning his birthday party already. I keep wanting to go crazy with it and James reels me back in. Maybe it's me missing planning huge events for hundreds of people back in my corporate days... so I'm reliving it by going crazy for a bunch of kiddos? All I know is that when I shut off Pinterest and Facebook, and just focus on my own creativity and looking at what makes Ian filled with joy- that's when I'll plan just the perfect party for this little dude!

Easter 2013

We had a great time celebrating Easter this year. Since we've been married, we've always just rotated whose parents we spent this holiday with, but this year, we were asked to serve at our church and gladly accepted. Getting to be on the worship team was such a blessing, and getting to see people accept Jesus into their hearts was awesome! In total, our Lexington and Frankfort campuses as well as our online campus saw 255+ people receive Jesus!!!!

Here's a picture of our Frankfort worship team, sporting our volunteer shirts.

Since this was Ian's first Easter, I wanted to do it up big. Of course, he didn't really understand what we were doing, but we had a great time nonetheless. Here's Ian and I dying eggs with our friends Mika and Shalerie.

Here's Ian and Mika on a walk later that day.

Here's Ian sporting a shirt a friend made for us,
complete with a tie with bunnies on it!
 Thanks Julianne!

Here's my stud muffin, sporting his Easter mustache at EasterFest at our church.

Here he is during the "hunt". I basically put him in the field and scooped some eggs on his lap. He enjoyed hitting the eggs together and drooling on them.

Hope your Easter was fantastic!
